A CIO resume blends technology planning and business management planning to streamline IT processes, accelerate business growth, drive down costs, increase revenue, and grow profits.
CIO’s have a great opportunity to provide real business value by serving as a credible and trusted advisor to other members of the executive team. Highlighting your talent to build consensus showcases your leadership.
A CIO's resume should demonstrate proven experience in communicating with and motivating, leading teams to the successful completion of projects (on time and within scope, of course).
In the CIO resume sample below, I highlighted Emmanuel’s greatest asset which is “strategically maximizing the value of IT resources,” and everything else that came after that supports the branding statement. Moreover, I used conservative colors (maroon and gray) to make the resume standout from the rest of your competition. Also for affect I bolded the first line of each bulleted statement. The bold directs the reader to the information that is most important on the resume. The easier the resume is to read, the more likely it will be read.
The competencies I selected were based on a conversation between Emmanuel and I. After our hour long discussion, I decided the most appropriate strengths to highlight include: systems standardization, executive leadership and supervision, and turnaround and crisis management (among others).
